Paul Joo, CPA

Mr. Paul S. Joo, CPA, is the owner and general manager of the firm. He studied accounting at UCLA graduating in 1988. After graduation, he spent several years working as a Senior Auditor at various accounting firms including PriceWaterhouse Coopers, one of the world's largest professional accounting firms, where he acquired invaluable consulting skills working with many successful corporate owners. As part of these engagements, he witnessed the positive influence of his services on his clients as their businesses prospered. This hands-on business experience prepared him to be a successful entrepreneur in his own accounting firm, Paul S. Joo, CPA Accountancy Corporation which he established in December, 2005 in Garden Grove, California.

As a result of his expert knowledge and prudent character, the firm has experienced tremendous growth since opening. In November 2010, the practice expanded through the opening of a second branch office in Brea, CA. This enabled the firm to service a broader client base including clients located in Northern Orange County. The firm services a wide range of clients from many different industries, domestic and foreign, including but not limited to manufacturers, labor union chapters, non-profit entities, wholesalers and retailers and for profit schools.

Mr. Joo has been frequently invited to speak on various tax topics including Gift and Estate planning and Real Estate taxes in seminars and local attorneys' BAR associations meetings. Mr. Joo is also pursuing a Masters' degree in Taxation at Golden Gate University. Mr. Joo has been a CPA since 1996.

Frank Rawson, CPA (Inactive)

Mr. Rawson, CPA has held his CPA license since 1983. He started in public accounting with Kenneth Leventhal & Company, a national CPA firm specializing in real estate related activities, working in both the auditing and tax departments as well as on consulting engagements. He has also held controllership and financial management positions for several medium sized businesses included a real estate syndicator and construction contractor. He previously has his own practice for ten years in Orange County working with small and medium sized businesses. This background provides him with a broad prospective from which to advise on auditing, accounting and tax matters.

Mr. Rawson earned his B.A. in Economics from Stanford University in 1973 and has completed significant post graduated work in accounting and taxation at California State University, Long Beach and California State University, Fullerton.

Judy Klein, CPA

Ms. Judy Klein obtained her CPA license in 2003 in State of California. She retains a wide array of advanced experience in both accounting and taxation. Ms. Klein also worked as a financial analyst in international financial institutions in various parts of Asia for four years.

Moving on to the United States, she has worked in reputable CPA firms at Beverly Hills, West Los Angeles, and Newport Beach. As a result of her successful career, Ms. Klein was promoted from staff accountant to audit supervisor. Prior to joining our firm in 2014, Ms. Klein played a major role as an accountant to expand an international bakery chain with its branches in United States. She successfully led this bakery business to quadruple its store numbers in seventeen months.

Ms. Klein earned her Bachelor’s Degree from National Taiwan University, Department of Finance. She is fluent in both Mandarin and English. Her greatest fulfillment is to help others with her knowledge and expertise in accounting, taxation, finance, and business development.

Jackie Valenzuela, CPA

Ms. Valenzuela started working at our firm since fall of 2017. Immediately after college, she joined a national CPA firm, BDO Seidman, LLP as a staff auditor performing accounting, auditing and advisory services to private companies in various industries including services, insurance, nonprofit, and manufacturing and distribution. She also performed audits of employee benefit plans.

Ms. Valenzuela continued her career as a Manager in the Mergers and Acquisition Services Department with one of the Big Four CPA firms, Deloitte & Touche Tohmatsu. She supported buy and sell side due diligence transactions for both domestic and international clients that included private and publicly held financial and strategic clients.

While pursuing her MBA, she transitioned into the private sector and worked as the CFO and Director of Operations for Urth Caffe, LLC. While there, Ms. Valenzuela implemented systems and controls that diminished theft and waste which in turn dramatically increased revenue and profitability. She also led private offerings to raise funds for new locations.

Ms. Valenzuela obtained her CPA license in 1999. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from California State University, Northridge. She later obtained her MBA from the University of Southern California in 2003. Ms. Valenzuela speaks fluently in both Tagalog and English.

Kelly An, CPA

Ms. Kelly An started her career in 2008 at a local CPA firm and has worked her way up to her current position as an senior accountant. Before joining our team in November 2016, Kelly has been working to assist small to medium businesses in a variety of industries and individuals with their taxation, tax planning, bookkeeping, and other accounting services. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration with Accounting concentration at California State University, Fullerton graduating in May, 2013 with honors Magna Cum Laude. She passed the CPA exams and is currently working toward to obtain her CPA license in the near future. Kelly says she is enjoying helping other people with their tax returns and tax issues.

Eun Jin Chang

Eunjin Chang joined our firm in June of 2017 and has been working in public accounting industry since 2010. Eunjin has wide range of experiences in tax preparation and planning for individuals and business entities. She has provided her expert knowledge for various clients including clothe manufacturing, sewing company, apparel and fabric wholesale industry and many other retailers. Eunjin earned her Bachelor’s degree from Kyung Hee University with a major in Accounting and business administration in Seoul, South Korea. She plans to earn her CPA license. Eunjin enjoys many different outdoor activities, such as hiking, running and camping. In her spare time, she enjoys running and was a great runner in middle school. As being an avid runner, she has strict self-management.

Eunjin says “This job is right for me. And this I love working with numbers. I am active and positive. I think myself as a person who strives for the best.”

HyunJoo Kim

Joining this firm on November 2017 was Ms. HyunJoo Kim, who had worked for an international logistic company as the accounting manager for six years. She was in charge of comprehensive accounting duties including international tax report, fund management, MIS and other accounting matters.

She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering from Chung-Ang University in Seoul, South Korea, and also received second Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management while she had worked as an accounting programmer for Korean Federation of Community Credit Cooperatives.

She passed the all CPA exams and holds license of CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor) and CIA (Certified Internal Auditor).

HyunJoo says the numbers show everything about a company and how well accountants manage their company finances. As a prudent accountant, she feels great about her important responsibility and her daily challenging work makes her fascinated.

Jessica Kim

Ms. Jessica Kim is a California State University, Long Beach graduate with a Bachelor of Science, Accountancy in August 2016. She joined the Paul S. Joo, CPA firm to obtain a wide range of accounting experience which enables her to provide relevant advice and assistance to business owners with internal accounting, periodic reporting, forecasting and implementation of succession plans. Jessica continues to further her knowledge by preparing for the CPA exam.

Jessica Says, “Accounting is not boring, recording transaction, analyzing them, and looking for legal ways of cutting tax expenditures. I want to help my clients and community identify cost-cutting measures they hadn’t previously discovered, and developing tax strategies.”

Joo Yeol Han

Mr. Joo Yeol Han graduated cum laude with Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy at California State University Long Beach on May 2018. He strives to help clients effectively manage and understand their business. Therefore, it is very important for Mr. Han to develop deep understanding of his client’s business and unique challenges that business face. Before joining Paul S. Joo CPA office, he worked as a staff accountant at Republic of Korean Army, where he experienced in research and development in tax code. Also, he worked at Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program to offer free individual tax returns.

Frequent interaction with my client and their appreciation is extremely rewarding to me. Every client is special to me, and I want to watch each of my client’s business to grow over the years.”
