Paul Joo, CPA

Mr. Paul S. Joo, CPA, is the owner and general manager of the firm. He studied accounting at UCLA graduating in 1988. After graduation, he spent several years working as a Senior Auditor at various accounting firms including PriceWaterhouse Coopers, one of the world's largest professional accounting firms, where he acquired invaluable consulting skills working with many successful corporate owners. As part of these engagements, he witnessed the positive influence of his services on his clients as their businesses prospered. This hands-on business experience prepared him to be a successful entrepreneur in his own accounting firm, Paul S. Joo, CPA Accountancy Corporation which he established in December, 2005 in Garden Grove, California.

As a result of his expert knowledge and prudent character, the firm has experienced tremendous growth since opening. In November 2010, the practice expanded through the opening of a second branch office in Brea, CA. This enabled the firm to service a broader client base including clients located in Northern Orange County. The firm services a wide range of clients from many different industries, domestic and foreign, including but not limited to manufacturers, labor union chapters, non-profit entities, wholesalers and retailers and for profit schools.

Mr. Joo has been frequently invited to speak on various tax topics including Gift and Estate planning and Real Estate taxes in seminars and local attorneys' BAR associations meetings. Mr. Joo is also pursuing a Masters' degree in Taxation at Golden Gate University. Mr. Joo has been a CPA since 1996.

Frank Rawson

Mr. Rawson obtained his CPA license (which is not currently active) in 1983. He started in public accounting with Kenneth Leventhal & Company, a national CPA firm specializing in real estate related activities, working in both the auditing and tax departments as well as on consulting engagements. He has also held controllership and financial management positions for several medium sized businesses included a real estate syndicator and construction contractor. He previously has his own practice for ten years in Orange County working with small and medium sized businesses. This background provides him with a broad prospective from which to advise on auditing, accounting and tax matters. Mr. Rawson joined our firm in 2007.

Joan Worley (Retired)

Ms. Joan Worley earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting at Golden Gate University. She began her career working for a local accounting firm in San Francisco where she received experience in all areas of accounting from financial statement preparation to auditing and tax preparation. In 1991, she returned to Southern California where she grew up and acquired her own accounting firm. The firm handled accounting for small businesses and tax preparation for businesses and individuals. In February of 2020 she joined our firm. Joan enjoys working with clients to ensure that their tax returns are accurate and that all deductions and credits have been applied in order to result in the lowest tax liabilities. As of January 1, 2022, Joan is retired but continues to work with us on a consulting basis.

HyunJoo Kim

Joining this firm on November 2017 was Ms. HyunJoo Kim, who had worked for an international logistic company as the accounting manager for six years. She was in charge of comprehensive accounting duties including international tax report, fund management, MIS and other accounting matters.

She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering from Chung-Ang University in Seoul, South Korea, and also received second Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management while she had worked as an accounting programmer for Korean Federation of Community Credit Cooperatives.

She passed the all CPA exams and holds license of CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor) and CIA (Certified Internal Auditor).

HyunJoo says the numbers show everything about a company and how well accountants manage their company finances. As a prudent accountant, she feels great about her important responsibility and her daily challenging work makes her fascinated.

Jessica Kim

Ms. Jessica Kim is a California State University, Long Beach graduate with a Bachelor of Science, Accountancy in August 2016. She joined the Paul S. Joo, CPA firm in July 2018 to obtain a wide range of accounting experience which enables her to provide relevant advice and assistance to business owners with internal accounting, periodic reporting, forecasting and implementation of succession plans. Jessica continues to further her knowledge by preparing for the CPA exam.

Jessica Says, “Accounting is not boring, recording transaction, analyzing them, and looking for legal ways of cutting tax expenditures. I want to help my clients and community identify cost-cutting measures they hadn’t previously discovered, and developing tax strategies.”

Daedo Key, CPA

Mr. Daedo (Danny) Key graduated Korea University major in Business Administration at 1983. He has 40 years of business experience including 2022. After graduation, he had worked GoldStar Co.(LG Electronics Inc.) over 20 years. His specialty was long-term strategic planning and problem solving project leader. His final job was Director for Apple iMac business. After moving to U.S.A. in 2002, he owned small business for 8 years at Orange County. He passed all CPA exams at 2012, and trained tax and accounting jobs at different CPA firms for 4 years. He has a Master of Science in Management degree from Arthur D. Little School of Management(Hult International Business School) at Boston, MA.

Soobin Jung, EA

Ms. Soobin Jung graduated with a bachelor degree in Business Administration, from Chung-Ang University in 2017. She started her career at a Public CPA firm in Seoul and has worked in the various fields of accounting related to management of small business, payrolls, tax reporting and tax consulting. She joined the Paul S. Joo, CPA firm in April 2021.

Soobin is highly enthusiastic and dedicated accountant with strong communication skill. Furthermore, She is working towards obtaining a CPA license to advance her accounting/tax knowledge.

Chaeeun Kim

Ms. Chaeeun Kim earned a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from San Francisco State University in 2021. Prior to joining Paul S. Joo, CPA accounting firm in March 2021, she volunteered for VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) where she helped low-income families and minorities file their tax returns.

In the firm, she provides professional accounting and tax return services for both individual and business clients. She meets the licensing educational requirements and is working towards obtaining the California CPA license.

Yebin Kim

Ms. Ye Bin Kim graduated from Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University in Japan in 2022 and completed a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and Finance. She started her career as an Accountant at the Paul S. Joo CPA firm directly after she graduated, and she is planning to obtain EA and CPA licenses to offer better Accounting/Tax services for clients. With the international background and constant effort as a professional, Ye Bin provides relevant advice and assistance tailored to each client.

Sunghee Kim

Ms. SungHee Kim completed her Bachelor's and Master's degree with a major in Accounting from California State University, San Bernardino in 2015. By participating in Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, she supported individual and sole proprietor business tax returns. She has worked in accounting fields related to a manufacturing company in South Korea. She joined the Paul Joo CPA firm in July 2022 and she is planning to achieve EA and CPA licenses to improve her accounting skills to better serve her clients. She passed two parts of CPA exam; FARE and BEC (expired in 2017).

Sandy Shin

Ms. Sandy Shin worked for a large US apparel company as an accounting manager for 8 years before joining Paul Joo CPA firm in April 2023. She majored in Math and Accounting from UCLA graduating in 1996. She had practiced her tax and accounting areas for a several years at the local CPA firms. She meets educational requirements for CPA exam and in preparation to obtain CPA license.
